The town of Grado, set in the Marano Lagoon, emerged 500 years before Venice, as the traditional saying states: Grado is the daughter of Aquileia and mother of Venice.
There are two early Christian basilicas, among the oldest in Italy: the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Basilica of Sant’Eufemia, characterized by columns with capitals and the elegant geometries of the mosaic floor. Grado is famous not just for its historical ruins, but also for being a renowned seaside resort, a tourist destination for Italians and foreigners.
